Facebook, the social network giant is conducting a minor test of a Timeline redesign. It’s not yet confirmed that how many users are being included in this test.
The new layout moves the top usernames and other information to the right of their profile picture, and by doing that it shrinks the top of users’ Facebook Timelines. That information is placed on top of users’ cover photos, over-layed by a black shadow that fades into the photo, resembling to the top section of current Timeline style used for names in the “Friends” box.
Here is a view of new Facebook Timeline:
Now compare it with the current style:
Much condensed huh?
The new Timeline layout changes “Likes” segment to “Favorites”, adds a new “Summary” button that basically shows a list of users’ “Life Events”. It also removes the thumbnails for the “Photos”, “Friends” and “Map”, fitting the buttons into a smaller space, according to TPM.
Nevertheless, the complaints just kept coming in regarding how awful the new design is.
