Microsoft Surface tablet has finally been unveiled on Monday during its LA event. The mysterious product we had been waiting for was the top highlight and amazed us with two Windows 8 tablets. It comes with both Windows RT and Windows 8 Pro version and works on both tablet and PC. I find it disappointing that Microsoft didn’t even mentioned anything about its release date, target price and battery life and kept it a secret for unknown reasons.
The Microsoft Surface features latest Intel CPU, with rear and front cameras. Its case is super thin and made up of magnesium. The Windows RT version is around 9.3 millimeters thin while Windows Pro version is around 13.5 millimeters. The Gorilla Glass screen has a 10.6 inch 16:9 widescreen High Definition (HD) display. The screen also features digitizers for touch and digital ink with a magnetic pen.
The Microsoft Windows RT version of tablet will have either 32 GB or 64 GB hard drive, while Windows 8 version will have either 64 GB or 128 GB hard drive.
Both versions of Microsoft Surface also feature two full size USB ports which is something that is hard to find on the majority of the tablet competition these days.
The Microsoft Surface also has a built in kickstand on the rear that helps hold it up while you are working on your tablet. It also comes with a Touch Cover that protects the tablet’s screen and is attached using magnets on both sides, which is much identical to what Apple’s Smart Cover is using with the iPad.
The Windows Pro version comes was a Mini DisplayPort while the RT version of Microsoft Surface has a Micro HD video port. Also, both versions come with a 2×2 MIMO antenna as well.
Again, many details are yet to be announced by Microsoft. At this point, we don’t even know the CPU speed (Windows RT), RAM, let alone its price and release date.
